I had what can only be stated as the worst dating experience of my life last night. For the protection of the individuals involved I'll be going by the name Greg Simon and she'll go by Sarah Tate. So I met Sarah in a nearby coffee shop. Though I'm not typically one to visit such a location (seriously the coffee usually taste like shit. Why do people go to Starbucks?), but she was working there and looked cute so I asked for her number. Couple of days go by and we decided to go out Friday. I picked her up and took off to the restaurant, Fridays (her choice). Now like most humans, I ALWAYS have music playing while I drive. Due to the fact that I am a music fanatic I attempted conversation on the topic. To much of my dismay, it was during this time that I realized that she was not only a hipster, but also hated pretty much all of my music. Contrary to popular belief, I am not a hipster, which I'll likely explain on a separate post. Naturally things were off to a bad start and I was regretting what was to come.
We arrive at the restaurant after she named some of her favourite bands. Allow me to go on record and say that Cute Is What We Aim For is a terrible band, in case you didn't catch that from the title. I didn't make reservations but there wasn't much of a wait. I noticed the necklace she was wearing and mentioned that I liked it; what I didn't notice was that there was a cross at the end of it. Unfortunately that struck up conversation and Sarah began to talk about her Church group and other Churchy (apparently not a word) things. She continued to go on as we got a table and ordered. It was then that she asked if I had been "SAVED".
I don't recall how I phrased it precisely, but it was something along the line of responding in the affirmative and telling her a story of great triumph to becoming an atheist. I don't know why people don't quite understand the difference between satanism and atheism, but it seems that Christians would rather have me as a satanist so that I at least believed in the devil. Allow me to take the time and state that I don't have a problem with theism, I just find institutionalized religions to be of a corrupt nature. Believe what you want, just leave me out of it. It's all I ask. Anyway she was less than appreciative of my response and I took her home after the meal. Needless to say, I don't expect to hear from her again.
For the record Cute Is What We Aim For is indeed shit.
